“A Murder on the Grill” Fundraiser: A Night to Remember!

What do a 1950s themed costume contest, a sizzling BBQ dinner, and a mystery to solve have in common? They all came together on May 2nd for Second Wind Second Chance’s very first fundraising event, and what a night it was!

Over 100 guests gathered last week in Yelm for our Murder Mystery Dinner Theater, “A Murder on the Grill.” Dressed in their best mid-century flair, attendees enjoyed a full BBQ dinner and dessert while putting their detective skills to the test. Prizes were on the line for the best costumes, and the energy in the room was electric from start to finish.

We are thrilled to share that the event was a tremendous success. We met our fundraising goal, and the outpouring of community support was truly humbling. None of it would have been possible without our generous event sponsors: Pinky’s Plumbing, Yelm Grocery Outlet, and St. Columban Catholic Church. Thank you for believing in this mission.

Second Wind Second Chance is a 100% volunteer-led nonprofit dedicated to providing transitional housing, life skills, and recovery support to individuals stepping out of short-term programs and into lasting independence. This first event was a milestone moment for our organization, and we are so grateful to the Yelm community for showing up in such a big way.

While our fundraising goal was reached, our work is just getting started. We are still actively seeking continued support as we move forward with expanding our Graduate Housing and vocational programs. Every contribution, large or small, helps build a stronger foundation for recovery right here in our community.
